A man died after being impaled on railings in an exclusive London square after falling from a fourth-floor window last night, police said.

The deceased, aged in his 50’s, was pronounced dead at the scene in Montagu Square by officers who arrived just after 5.15pm yesterday evening.
A spokesman for the Met said the death was ‘not being treated as suspicious’.
A neighbour, speaking to the Evening Standard, said: “It was a very gruesome scene. The body was hanging there for a while.
“Police covered it with a tent straight away when they arrived but quite a few people must have seen it.
“I couldn’t look, I was horrified.”
London Fire Brigade were called to assist police, cutting through the 5ft metal railings outside the Marylebone flats with an angle grinder so the man’s body could be removed.
It is believed he fell from a penthouse apartment at the corner of the square just north of Marble Arch, which has been home to Ringo Starr, Jimi Hendrix and John Lennon and Yoko Ono.
This morning a police forensics tent guarded by officers was still at the scene.
The Met statement on the incident said: “Police were called to Montagu Square, W1 at 5.18pm on Monday, December 8 to reports of a man having fallen from a fourth floor window.
“A man, believed aged in his early 50’s, was pronounced dead at the scene.
“The death is not being treated as suspicious at this time.”
